Lynn Allen was formed in 1982. Lead Singer and Guitarist Billy Peiffer formed the band after the Quad Cities-based band "Pilot," a band formed by Peiffer and Jesse Johnson from "The Time," Prince's brainchild and opening act split up. Lynn Allen would immediately impact the music scene with their first two record releases. Radio stations from the Midwest and Southwest reported the band's songs as being their number one requested songs at that time. Soon after the band's rising popularity in the States, the band would get noticed in Europe, the UK, and Japan.

Billy would later hook up with Ross Valory (Journey) and Atma Anur (Ritchie Kotzen) in the San Francisco-based band (Big Rock). Sometime later, Peiffer would return to his hometown in Iowa and hook up with John Williamson, guitarist and keyboard player. Together, they would then release "Lynn Allen's" 3rd and 4th studio albums with Williamson playing bass guitar on both. With the addition of drummer Kevin Sampson, Minneapolis-based band "Monarch" Lynn Allen released 3 more full-length studio albums, along with 2 DVDs and several more singles.

Today, the 3-piece band is enjoying playing concerts and festivals. Concert goers can also find "Billy Peiffer and Iowa" and "KPS," both are Peiffer side projects.
